BOOKS
:
According to a survey conducted in the United
States, only 10% of people actually buy a book and read after graduating. According to
many successful people, reading is something that is a continuous process, never to be
stopped in life. I guess the brain rusts if one stops reading. I am an avid reader. I just
love to read. It helps in every situation. This is one thing that really gets my spirits
high (of course, thats cause I don't read depressing or boring novels - no offense to
those who do, it's good for you if you like it). There are a lot
of great books and I keep coming across some useful and good ones all the time. Here some
real good ones that I have come across till date, and boy, they have really made a big
difference to me and helped me in my thinking.
The Magic Of Thinking BIG :
Author : David J. Schwartz
In life, normally all of us are very 'kanjoos'(stingy) in our thinking of
ourselves. We all think very little and underestimate ourselves. If you are among those
people, grab this book & read it. It's an incredible book which actually says that it
doesn't cost any more to think big than to think little. Thinking BIG helps you get BIG
Results - is what this books talks about & shows us how.
The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective
People :
Author : Stephen R. Covey
This is a great book about change - personal & other types. It basically
tells us about having a principle centered approach for solving personal &
professional problems. The author reveals a step by step pathway for living principles
that give us the security to adapt to change, & how to take advantage of the
opportunities that change creates. Very Inspiring. It actually changed my perspective and
the way I think.
Think And Grow Rich :
Author : Napoleon Hill
I'm sure you've heard of him, he's written many wonderful books and he says
"Whatever the mind of man can conceive & believe, it can
achieve." This book contains many money-making secrets that can change your life (
Disclaimer : I don't mean money-making secrets for those who are looking for making money
the quick & effortless way - he doesn't talk about how to get a perfect lottery or
something like that ). The book has some simple basic techniques, which if we all would
truly apply, we will master the secret of true & lasting success.
Don't Sweat The Small Stuff...and
it's all small stuff :
Author : Richard Carlson
This author is simply fabulous. You know, many of us let even petty little itsy-bitsy
matters in our life take toll of our brains & it affects everything we do. So, the
author says don't sweat it, it's all small stuff. It basically talks about simple ways to
keep the little things from taking over your life. There are a lot more books in this
series by the author which I want to get my hands on.
Awaken The Giant Within :
Author : Anthony Robbins
All of us have a giant inside us who can take us wherever we desire to go in
life. The only problem is that the giant is sleeping. So, wake up that giant !! Read this
Book ! Wake Up and take control of your life ! This book tells us how to control our
destiny instead of having our destiny control us. (Give me a break guys, I don't mean
anything to do with spiritual stuff - for those who thought about it)
Faith Is The Answer :
Author : Norman Vincent Peale
You guessed it - he's the author of the all time famous, still sought after book
'The Power Of Positive Thinking'. For any big task in life, faith plays a major role cause
if we don't have it, rarely can we face any challenges - Right ?? This book puts light on
the power of Faith & shows how we can use the big F (I mean FAITH, no pun intended
!!!) to tackle the big C's (Challenge's) in life.
Rich Dad, Poor Dad
:
Author : Robert T. Kiyosaki
He teaches people to be millionaires...that's why they call him the millionaire
school teacher. He believes that the teaching system everywhere in the world teaches
everything except the most important thing which can determine a child's future - and that
is lessons in financial intelligence. His real dad was his poor dad who, like many others,
used to tell him to study hard, get good grades and get a good job, and that will give him
freedom in life. His rich dad, which was his best friends dad, was poor initially, but
turned out to be eventually one of the wealthiest men in his town. The Rich Dad taught him
that if he's gotta be successful in life, he has to get out of the RAT
RACE and own his own business - which the author worked towards successfully after
getting to learn about financial intelligence from his rich dad. The same lessons have
been passed on in this book. The author also explains the important aspects of assets
& liabilities and patterns of cash flow which is a must for everyone to understand.
This book is truly a boon if you want to understand how to get out of the Rat Race.
You know, I can keep going on and on about good books cause there are many and I
personally come across a new one very often. But these are a few of my favourites. I can
only say that just reading good books does not suffice unless we apply the principles
stated in them in our everyday lives. Do let me know if you need any one of them and I
would love to get your opinions also. You can mail me at amitj6@yahoo.com.
